Pregnant "Ike Wimin" LP

Placerville, CA recording artist Pregnant has released a new 12” full-length LP with KDVS Recordings. We hope you enjoy the electronic and psychedelic ambient pop sounds of this record. Below are some published reviews…

Pregnant needs to pass the drugs: Northern California's Pregnant is more of a hermit in a forest project than a bedroom project. Imagined by Daniel Trudeau, it's a special brand of weirdness that might come from living too close to the natural mushrooms in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Although there's no cause for concern, no one in or associated with the group is pregnant and on drugs, to our limited knowledge. Pregnant ranges from flipped and backspun circus music betwixt twinkling alien transmissions and heavy drone to pitch-shifted nursery folk mimicking a children's sing-a-long tape. The distortion hovers between genuine silliness to possessed insanity sheep-skinned in coyness. --- Blake Gillespie, Impose Magazine

Being pregnant doesn’t sound like much fun. You get huge, everything hurts, it’s hard to walk upstairs, and you can’t drink gin. I don’t even want to go into the whole giving birth thing, because that seems like a real struggle. However, Pregnant is a pretty good band name. Daniel Trudeau makes mutant pop sound-collages using samples, his vocals, and his own instrumentation. Every track I’ve heard sounds completely different so don’t expect what’s below to reflect his output, though it is my personal favorite. The Liquidation on Swans tape is out on Life’s Blood now and forthcoming is the Ike Wimin 12″ on KDVS Recordings. --- Joel Wright, Vice Magazine

Daniel Trudeau otherwise known as Pregnant makes beautiful mutant pop songs that gives off traces of The Residents’ most accessible material filtered through some electro and glitch elements. To tell you the truth, we honestly are not sure how Dan makes all his badass music but we know for sure that it is bad-ass and that everyone should hear it before they die or at least collect retirement. He has a great way of using loops and mashing different things one could never dream of doing like the Steely Dan/Steve Reich mash-up that is in this LP which we have already tagged as a “future classic”. Yes! Treat yourself to this one and be at awe at the musical gem that is “Ike Wimin.” --- Only For the Open Minded Blog
